Centralized Discussion

I noticed that you set a lot of talk pages to redirect to PLoSWiki:Community_portal. It's good to point users to the editors' contact info, but shouldn't there also be some place on this wiki for discussion? Maybe the Talk pages should at least redirect to a central Talk page for general discussion? --Spencer Bliven 00:36, 6 April 2017 (PDT)

I agree. I envisaged the contact info as a header, with discussion below. That way anyone wanting to discuss technical info or contents about pages can post comments, but people just wanting to ask if their topic is appropriate or some other general question would be able to email editors. Your 'add a new discussion topic' link makes that clear. Good change! --Spencer Bliven 01:41, 7 April 2017 (PDT)

Categories

I was looking over the wiki for things we need to add for PLOS ONE, and started looking into the categories. I noticed that we don't have journal-specific draft categories, so there's no indication of which journal a new page is intended for until it is published and moves to 'Category:PLOS Genetics articles' or equivalent. Is that intended, or would it make sense to tag drafts with both 'Category:PLOS article drafts' and the journal-specific category? --Spencer Bliven 11:48, 23 August 2018 (PDT)

@Spencer, I think that's just a historical anachronism. Having separate categories for drafts aimed at the different journals is probably sensible. I don't imagine that it will be very common for articles to change which journal they are submitted to. T Shafee (talk) 22:19, 28 August 2018 (PDT)
OK, I'll restore the draft categories. Maybe you can double-check whether I assigned drafts to the right article. --Spencer Bliven 15:57, 29 August 2018 (PDT)
